News Conference - War Amps Marks 95 Years of Artificial Limbs Then & Now at Vancouver Child Amputee Seminar
VANCOUVER, March 22, 2013 /CNW/ - As it marks its 95th anniversary this year, The War Amps and local members of its Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program will be taking a look at artificial limbs then and now.
In a news conference at 10:30 am today in the Cypress 1 Room of the Westin Bayshore Hotel (1601 Bayshore Drive), Owen Greaves, 10, of Richmond, who was born a left hand amputee, and Aimee Brennan, 11, of Surrey, who was born a left arm amputee, will show the artificial limbs they use for bike riding, gymnastics and skipping rope.
With the theme Celebrating 95 Years, the news conference will also feature other Champs from across BC demonstrating the limbs and devices they use to overcome their amputations and achieve their goals, and will touch on the incredible advances in artificial limbs over 95 years.
Running March 22 to 24, the seminar will be a life-changing experience for Champs and their parents, covering everything from raising an amputee child, to dealing with teasing and staring, to seeing the latest developments in artificial limbs.
Media are welcome to attend the sessions, or interviews with the Champs can be arranged at any time.
