Newton Crossing Dental and Dentistry From The Heart a Landslide Success
SURREY, BC, Dec. 9 /CNW/ - Dr. Harinder Dhanju and his team did indeed change lives on Dec. 4, 2010.
The doctors - including Dr. Harinder Dhanju, Dr. Jaspreet Dhanju, Dr. Coby Cragg, Dr. Arv Sooch, Dr. Rowena Sooch, Dr. Gavin Forsyth, and Dr. Kulminder Bahi - provided free dental care to 121 patients in 9 hours. They donated in excess of $19,000 in dental services, and had 300 people onsite. In total, 372 patients called the Hotline in just 4 days. Our mayor, Ms. Dianne Watts toured the clinic during this charitable event. The vast majority of patients were Surrey residents, but some ventured from downtown Vancouver and others came from as far away as Abbotsford for urgent dental care.
The doctors thank Global TV for all their support as they broadcast live from the clinic all day. In addition, the other volunteers (25 assistants and industry volunteers) and dental supplier Henry Schein made the entire event possible.
Dentistry from the Heart has a simple mission - making people smile. Founded in 2001 by a Dr. Vincent Monticciolo in New Port Richey, Florida, DFTH was created to aid those in need, including the growing population of under-insured. Over 110 million North Americans alone lack dental insurance, and over 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities. Without events like DFTH, dental care simply isn't an option for many of the uninsured. To date, DFTH has helped more than 30,000 patients and provided over $5.5 million in dental care.
Dr. Dhanju dedicated this event to the memory of the late Dr. Bud Sipko - a local dental mentor who would have been proud to participate in this charitable day.
Dentistry From The Heart is a registered non-profit organization that offers free urgent care dental work for people who most need it. Dr. Vincent Monticciolo founded the organization as a means to give back to the community and address the growing number of people without dental insurance.
