NHL Players and top 42 Bantam-aged players from across Canada to train side-by-side from August 6-10, 2013 at Hershey Centre in Mississauga, ON
TORONTO, May 30, 2013 /CNW/ - The National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) announced today the names of 42 selected bantam-aged players who will participate in the third annual Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Camp. Hosted by NHL players under the leadership of 21-year NHL veteran Gary Roberts, the invitation-only camp will be held at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario from August 6th to 10th, 2013. The intensive five-day camp will conclude with the Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Cup - an inter-squad exhibition game - on Saturday, August 10th at 1:00 p.m. ET, broadcast on TSN. Tickets to the exhibition game are available through the program's website www.allcanadians.com.
"The NHLPA has made a strong commitment to sharing the Players' knowledge and experience with Canada's youth through the Allstate All-Canadians program. This is our third year in working to develop a program that will help educate not only the 42 bantam-aged players that are directly involved, but also parents and young hockey players across the country," said Mathieu Schneider, NHLPA Special Assistant to the Executive Director. "The NHL Players and the ambassadors involved are true professionals and have an enormous amount of experience to share through this program."
Players attending the five-day Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Camp will learn the necessary steps to support budding hockey skills through fundamental factors including appropriate nutrition, fitness, on-ice training and mental skills - the four pillars of hockey development identified by the NHLPA's Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Program. Throughout the camp, the participants and their families will have the opportunity to learn from some of the NHL's brightest stars, as well as camp ambassadors such as Dr. Paul Dennis (Sport Psychologist), Dave Lewis (NHL Assistant Coach), and renowned off-ice training expert, Gary Roberts.
"Each year I look forward to sharing my story and experiences throughout my 21-year NHL career and the role that fitness and nutrition played in my success," said Gary Roberts. "I feel strongly about the importance of educating young players and their families about developing skill sets that will improve performance both on and off the ice and advance them to the next level in their careers and I look forward to continuing this tradition."
"We're proud to support the Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship program along with the NHLPA, giving young players the opportunity to work alongside NHL pros and industry experts to learn valuable on-ice hockey skills in addition to off-ice life lessons - including leadership, teamwork and perseverance," said John O'Donnell, President and CEO of Allstate Insurance Company of Canada. "Learning from professionals early in their careers will better position these young players to be successful and achieve their goals."
Last year's camp featured 22 first-round draft picks from the OHL and WHL, including first overall picks Connor McDavid (OHL - 2012), Travis Konecny (OHL - 2013), and Mathew Barzal (WHL - 2012). The QMJHL draft is set to take place on June 8th, 2013, and will feature 8 eligible All-Canadians players from 2012, including, Nicolas Roy, the number one rated prospect by QMJHL Central Scouting.

In 1999, the NHLPA launched the Goals & Dreams fund as a way for the players to give something back to the game they love. Over the past 13 years, more than 60,000 deserving children in 30 countries have benefited from the players' donations of hockey equipment.
