Nick Yanovski joins Avison Young in Toronto

Highly regarded capital markets specialist becomes Principal

TORONTO, Oct. 4, 2016 /CNW/ - Martin Dockrill, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's Ontario region, announced today that highly regarded capital markets specialist Nick Yanovski has joined the firm in Toronto.

Effective immediately, Yanovski becomes a Principal of Avison Young and member of the Toronto capital markets team. In this role, he will focus on sourcing capital markets transactions, identifying Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Ontario-wide properties for investment sales opportunities, negotiating single-property and portfolio acquisitions and dispositions, attracting new clients and maintaining existing client relationships.

Yanovski brings more than 25 years of commercial real estate investment sales experience to Avison Young, most recently as managing director of capital markets with Cushman & Wakefield in Toronto. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, he served as a senior vice-president at DTZ, where he spent 15 years with the capital markets team and completed more than $5 billion in investment sales transactions.

Yanovski began his commercial real estate career at Cadillac Fairview, where he was manager of corporate valuations. His duties included assessing the value of all of the firm's major real estate assets, including the Toronto Dominion Centre, Toronto's Eaton Centre, and Vancouver's Pacific Centre. As a result, he gained valuable exposure to institutional-quality office, retail and industrial properties and portfolios. Yanovski's notable Ontario sales transactions include Corus Entertainment's head office at 25 Dockside Drive, Torstar's head office at 1 Yonge Street, 1 Queen Street East, Atrium on Bay, 3500 Steeles Avenue East and the Cadillac Fairview retail portfolio.

Yanovski holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in urban and economic geography from the University of Toronto. He is also a professional appraiser, holding the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation. In his community, he coached competitive soccer teams for many years, is active in his local hockey league, and fundraises for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society.
