Nickelodeon's Sam & Cat premieres on Monday, August 12 at 6 p.m. on YTV
TORONTO, July 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Corus Entertainment's YTV is premiering Sam & Cat in Canada on Monday, August 12 at 6 p.m. ET/PT. The side-splitting, new spin-off comedy stars beloved teen funny gals, Jennette McCurdy (iCarly's Sam Puckett) and Ariana Grande (Victorious' Cat Valentine). Created for Nickelodeon by award-winning executive producer Dan Schneider, (iCarly, Victorious, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101), the series follows feisty Sam and flighty Cat as they become best friends and unlikely roommates who start a babysitting service.
In the series premiere, total opposites Sam Puckett and Cat Valentine first meet when a wild predicament lands both girls in the back of a moving garbage truck. After quickly becoming friends and roommates, they find themselves babysitting three younger kids, which give Sam and Cat the idea to start Sam & Cat's Super Rockin' Fun-Time Babysitting Service. Sam & Cat kicks off YTV's strong Monday night lineup, including The Next Star Season 6 at 7 p.m. and Wendell & Vinnie at 8 p.m., which features iCarly's hilariously funny Jerry Trainer, also premiering on August 12. Special upcoming Sam & Cat guest stars include iconic comedy duo Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams (Laverne & Shirley), in their first appearance in a scripted series in over 30 years, and Sophia Grace and Rosie of The Ellen DeGeneres Show who reprise their roles as troublemakers Gwen and Ruby.
Grande, who plays the lovable Cat, will be in Toronto on August 27 performing tracks from her new debut album, Yours Truly, which launches on September 3. Her 2013 breakout single, The Way featuring Mac Miller, scored Grande her first Billboard Top 10 single.
An additional 20 episodes have been greenlit for the series, which is currently Nickelodeon's number-one live-action series in the U.S., averaging 3.7 million total viewers since its launch in June. The series drew over 4.2 million viewers with its stateside premiere, making it the network's biggest live-action debut in three years.
