Nightingale Announces Plans to Launch its Leading ASP EMR, Nightingale On
Demand, for the Apple® iPad(TM)
MARKHAM, ON, Dec. 9 /CNW/ - Nightingale Informatix Corporation (TSX-V: NGH) ("Nightingale" or the "Company"), an application service provider (ASP) of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and related services today announces plans to launch its leading, internet-based EMR and practice management solution, Nightingale On Demand, for use on the Apple® iPad™.
"We are seeing increased use of the iPad™ by physicians and in hospitals and clinics alike - so making Nightingale On Demand available for those who use the device was a natural next step," said Sam Chebib, President and CEO of Nightingale. "Nightingale is committed to product innovation that makes EMR implementation easier for physicians, and helps them further enhance the delivery of patient care. Professionals using the iPad™ will be able to document and view patient information in a way they are most comfortable with. We are continuing to deliver on the Company's Promise to provide physicians with platform choices that work best for them."
Nightingale is leading the Canadian EMR market as one of the first companies with plans to launch an iPad™-enabled solution. Nightingale On Demand's internet-based platform makes it easier for the Company to deploy the solution across various web-enabled devices like the iPad™, in comparison to local client server-based EMRs.
Physicians and healthcare providers will have the comfort of knowing that all patient data entered while using the iPad™ is stored directly to the same secure servers Nightingale uses for its existing ASP EMR, and that no patient data will remain on the iPad™ device.
"For several years now, I have been using the Nightingale On Demand EMR on various Apple™ devices," said Dr. David M. Kaplan, Assistant Professor of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. "I'm very pleased that Nightingale will soon be supporting the iPad™ natively because I see more and more physicians using the device. I think using Nightingale's EMR on an iPad™ will be particularly useful for making hospital rounds, offsite patient management and homecare, as well as visits with palliative or nursing home patients. Many day-to-day tasks, like viewing lab results and sending messages and action items to team and staff members will also be easy to do on the iPad™."
Physicians and healthcare providers using Nightingale On Demand on the iPad™ will have access to features available through the existing version of the EMR, including documentation of patient encounters, prescription writing, lab orders and results as well as scheduling and billing of patient visits.
Nightingale will make the iPad™ version of Nightingale On Demand commercially available in March 2011.
