Nightingale Informatix Corporation signs CDN$3.0 million, Five-Year Agreement with Giiwednong Health Link
Company's Cloud-based EMR solution, Nightingale on Demand, to be deployed in 16 healthcare sites, serving more than 30,000 First Nation Citizens
MARKHAM, ON, March 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Nightingale Informatix Corporation ("Nightingale" or the "Company") (TSXV: NGH), a provider of cloud-based electronic medical record (EMR) software and related services, today announced that it has signed an exclusive CDN $3.0 million, five-year agreement with Giiwednong Health Link (GHL), a health and information management joint venture between First Nation health organizations for the communities of Manitoulin Island and the North Shore of Lake Huron. All figures are stated in Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nightingale will deploy its cloud-based EMR, Nightingale on Demand, at GHL's 16 healthcare sites that employ close to 200 healthcare providers and service more than 30,000 community members. The five-year contract is expected to contribute a total of $3.0 million in revenue, of which $1.5 million is expected to be recognized in the first year. Management anticipates deployment to last nine months, starting in the summer of 2013.
"Implementing solutions to improve both the efficiency and quality of the healthcare services in our communities is GHL's primary focus," said Joe Hare, Chief M'Chigeeng First Nation, a key member of GHL. "Selecting an EMR provider that best meets the specific needs of our communities is part of this wider effort. After an extensive due diligence process, we selected Nightingale because of the Company's proven track record with Aboriginal health centers and deep understanding of our unique workflows. We are excited to start our EMR roll-out with Nightingale. We look forward to providing optimum health services to our citizens using best-in-class technology."
"This contract win underscores Nightingale's position as the EMR partner of choice for community-based health organizations across Canada, and our growing role in the emerging Aboriginal market segment, " said Sam Chebib, President and CEO of Nightingale. "With clients such as the Association of Ontario Health Centres and Six Nations Health Services, we thoroughly understand the requirements of community-based healthcare and have developed features within our application that specifically address these unique workflow needs. We are excited that GHL has selected our EMR to streamline the healthcare processes and enhance the care provided within its communities."
Nightingale's one-patient, one-record™ architecture will allow GHL healthcare providers to store patient information in a cloud-based EMR, boasting an average 99.99% up-time rate, which enables any authorized user to retrieve patient data through a web-based platform anytime, anywhere. This will increase consistency across all GHL sites and will improve the effectiveness of the healthcare programs GHL provides, including clinic-based care, chronic disease management, community-based care and social programs.
Nightingale has developed workflow solutions that meet the specific requirements of Aboriginal healthcare. Aboriginal communities are faced with the challenge of interconnecting multiple locations and forms of healthcare, including traditional healing. Nightingale's EMR provides multiple practitioners with access to a patient's centrally managed health record, making the referral and transfer of patients between different sites and different forms of care much easier. No matter what site the patient visits or what type of care they have chosen, their healthcare provider will have access to the same patient data. This will improve the delivery of care across the multiple disciplines at GHL and will ultimately lead to a superior patient experience.
