Nightingale Signs more than 200 EMR Seats Across Canada in its Fiscal 2011
First Quarter
Company's web-native (ASP) EMR and practice management solution, Nightingale On Demand, continues to gain momentum as a market leader
MARKHAM, ON, July 8 /CNW/ - Nightingale Informatix Corporation (TSX-V: NGH) ("Nightingale" or the "Company"), an application service provider (ASP) of electronic medical record (EMR) software and related services today announces that agreements for the deployment of more than 200 EMR seats for the Nightingale On Demand EMR and practice management solution were signed with healthcare providers across Canada in the first quarter of fiscal year 2011, ended June 30. Of these agreements, a substantial number were signed in Ontario and are being supported through OntarioMD's EMR implementation funding program.
"The Canadian EMR market is starting to unfold as we expected," said Sam Chebib, President and CEO, Nightingale. "Government funding has come available and more physicians are seeking the enhanced level of operational efficiency and effectiveness EMRs offer, driving a notable increase in EMR adoption over recent months. As a result, our fiscal 2011 customer sign-ups are off to a strong start."
Mr. Chebib continued: "We expect our sales to gain momentum through the remainder of the fiscal year. Our web-native solution is increasingly being recognized by physicians across Canada as a leading EMR and practice management solution. We will continue to devote the necessary resources to capture further market share in Canada, particularly by working to grow our customer base in our target geographic regions: Ontario, the Maritimes and Saskatchewan."
Among the agreements signed, significant partnerships were established with family health groups and family health organizations in Oakville, ON including the North Oakville Family Health Group, and the Oakville Medical Centre. The web-native platform of Nightingale On Demand was a critical factor to the selection process, as it provides unique capabilities that will meet their specific needs.
"With 11 sites across Oakville, our physicians recognize the value of Nightingale's web-based platform," said Dr. Roderick Kerr, lead physician for the North Oakville FHG. "We need an online solution that allows us to interface with one of our local hospitals and Nightingale is the only provider with the capabilities to deliver this. Meeting this need gives us the confidence that Nightingale is truly a leading EMR provider."
Dr. Judith Levasseur, lead physician at the Oakville Medical Centre, echoes Dr. Kerr in agreeing that the web-based capabilities of Nightingale On Demand meet the needs of her practice, including an interface connection to another local healthcare organization.
"We have several reasons for selecting the Nightingale On Demand EMR, but the benefits we will gain from it being an online solution were absolutely critical to our selection process," said Dr. Levasseur. "A key benefit will be establishing a secure, web-based interface connection with a local healthcare organization, which also supports our goal to reduce paper-based communications in all areas of our practice. When you add up the advantages that stem from Nightingale's EMR being web-based, you'll start to see where efficiencies can be created, which ultimately allows more time to focus on patient care."
