Nightingale's Leading, ASP EMR Implemented at New 22 Wing Military Family
Resource Centre Medical Clinic at 22 Wing North Bay Air Base
MARKHAM, ON, Nov. 24 /CNW/ - Nightingale Informatix Corporation (TSX-V: NGH) ("Nightingale" or the "Company"), an application service provider (ASP) of electronic medical record (EMR) software and related services today announces that its leading, web-native EMR and practice management solution, Nightingale On Demand, has been implemented in the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) Medical Clinic, which opens its permanent facilities today at the 22 Wing North Bay Air Base. The MFRC Medical Clinic currently offers medical care to all Regular Force families and United States Air Force families located in the North Bay area. It is the first MFRC clinic to utilize an EMR solution.
"Nightingale is proud to be the EMR partner of the MFRC Medical Clinic," said John Bodolai, Executive Vice President of Nightingale. "We are committed to working with the physicians and clinic staff to ensure that Nightingale On Demand meets and exceeds the needs of the military families of 22 Wing North Bay. This initiative is a true example of the value that EMRs have in healthcare today. For the first time, many of the people treated at the MFRC Medical Clinic will have medical documentation that can follow them to their next location. This is a step towards providing a true continuum of healthcare for military families, and we are fully supportive of the goals set out by the MFRC Medical Clinic Workgroup."
The MFRC Medical Clinic Workgroup representatives informed Nightingale that one of their major objectives was to select the EMR solution that would best meet the needs of 22 Wing military families. After discussing the needs and objectives in great detail, Nightingale was chosen amongst its competitors to form a dedicated partnership that would significantly enhance the abilities to provide a comprehensive Medical File Maintenance practice for the military families today and into the future as the clinic grows.
In early 2010, the MFRC Medical Clinic Workgroup identified the need for a medical clinic with EMR capabilities to provide care to military families. As a result of the nomadic lifestyle of military families, most do not have comprehensive medical records. Further, access to healthcare was limited because of a shortage of family physicians in the North Bay area. Many were seeking care at walk-in clinics and hospital emergency rooms, but these options also presented obstacles, as many walk-in clinics had changed their procedures and began requiring appointments and wait times at emergency rooms were increasingly long. In May 2010, funding was granted to the MFRC Medical Clinic Workgroup by 1 Canadian Air Division to open the MFRC Medical Clinic.
More than 460 members of military families have already registered as patients, to be treated by the four physicians currently providing part-time care at the MFRC Medical Clinic. As additional physicians join the MFRC Medical Clinic, services will be extended to Class B Reservist families, Class A Reservist families, and families and civilian members of the Department of National Defense Team. The MFRC Medical Clinic plans to secure enough physicians to allow for the availability of medical services to all members the 22 Wing North Bay and surrounding area Department of National Defense Team.
Nightingale's EMR solution, Nightingale On Demand, is a full featured, web-native EMR and practice management system that automates clinical activities such as documenting patient care, prescription writing, lab orders and results as well as the scheduling and billing of patient visits.
