- The 2017 Nissan Qashqai and special Star Wars integration add excitement to the show floor -
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 16, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, the Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept made its Canadian debut at the 2017 Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS), signaling the future of the brand's sedan design direction and Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology. The 2017 Nissan Qashqai, which broadens Nissan's crossover line-up when it goes on sale this spring, was also on display. Adding some extra excitement to the Nissan booth were special Star Wars features, including Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition vehicles and a full-sized replica of the K-2SO droid from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."
"The Nissan display at the 2017 CIAS is a culmination of our most exciting offerings, none of which are connected," says Joni Paiva, president of Nissan Canada Inc. "In one area, we're displaying our vision for future design and the latest autonomous driving technology with the Vmotion 2.0 Concept. Just a few yards away is a totally new vehicle for the Canadian market that has already won the world over with over 3-millon sales globally - the Qashqai CUV. To diversify the stand further, we've brought in legendary cinematic elements through the 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' display."
Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept
The Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept signals an evolution of the design language seen on many of today's Nissan products, such as the Altima, Murano and Maxima. Combining a high sense of style, emotional design, space, comfort and technology to make the mobility experience seamless, the Vmotion 2.0 offers a stunning look into the future and is an insightful proposition of what the sedan could be in the coming years. Winner of the 2017 EyesOn Design Award for Best Concept Vehicle, as well as the award for Best Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials at the North American International Auto Show, the Vmotion 2.0 Concept exemplifies the enormous potential of Nissan's newest design direction.
Providing hints at the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility – Nissan's roadmap to achieve zero emissions and zero fatalities – the Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept features Nissan Intelligent Driving, one of three core elements of Nissan Intelligent Mobility. Nissan Intelligent Driving helps provide a safe and comfortable driving experience through technology such as ProPILOT, which is envisioned to ultimately allow the vehicle to drive in autonomous mode – not just on the highway and in heavy traffic conditions – but also on urban roads with intersections.
"The Vmotion 2.0 Concept is a symbol of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which is our journey to the future in the Nissans you drive today. It is our blueprint for realizing our ultimate vision of a zero-emission, zero-fatality future for driving," said Paiva.
2017 Nissan Qashqai
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai brings something truly innovative to consumers, offering the functionality of a crossover with all the benefits of a compact car. With buyers looking for more space than a compact sedan, while still seeking the maneuverability and fun-to-drive feel, the Qashqai serves to fill an obvious gap that exists in the compact SUV segment. Sharing many of its design, utility and technology attributes with the Nissan Rogue, the Qashqai brings a slightly smaller, sportier and more affordable option that appeals to a younger, more urban generation of SUV buyers, helping them achieve the functionality they need for their active and busy lifestyles.
"With compact crossovers becoming the largest volume segment in Canada, we recognized an opportunity for us to expand our line-up even further," said Joni Paiva, president, Nissan Canada Inc. "The 2017 Nissan Qashqai perfectly bridges the gap between compact sedan and SUV by offering the benefits of both at an exceptional value. We are thrilled to give Toronto auto show visitors the opportunity to see just how fun and versatile the Qashqai can be."
An out-of-this-world booth experience
Visitors of CIAS were greeted with a Star Wars-inspired experience at the Nissan booth, adding some excitement to the show floor. On display was the Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition, the first-ever full-size production vehicle to include Star Wars-branded elements created in partnership with Lucasfilm for the launch of the film, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." The Nissan booth also welcomed special guests including a full-sized replica of K-2S0, a collectible Death Trooper helmet and Stormtroopers, who will be back for photo opportunities with fans on Family Day, Monday, February 20th, 2017.
