No hunger is our mission - Major partners now supporting La Corbeille Bordeaux-Cartierville

MONTREAL, Sept. 13, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - La Corbeille Bordeaux-Cartierville is backed by key partners to pursue its mission that began 25 years ago as a non-profit organization. Marché Central, managed by the group Bentall Kennedy, as well as Costco are jointly contributing to a collection of non-perishable food from September 10 to 30 in favor of those who use La Corbeille to meet their essential needs.

Bentall Kennedy, property manager for the Marché Central has launched a national initiative and challenged its shopping centers to collect $75,000 in donations and 44,000 kg of non-perishable food for organizations such as La Corbeille. If the Marché Central wins the challenge by collecting more non-perishable food than other shopping centers, Bentall Kennedy will give La Corbeille $10,000.

The primary mission of La Corbeille is to provide food to needy families in the area and operates a community grocery store: Le magasin d'Émilie. La Corbeille also offers a training program for socio-professional integration. La Corbeille has also created a socioeconomic program, Festigoût catering, with all proceeds going to the pursuit of its mission.

On August 1^st, Costco began the delivery of about 3 pallets of non-perishable food per week to La Corbeille. From 10 to 30 September, the Marché Central and customers who wish to contribute to this cause may do so by offering non-perishable food at the entrance of Costco.

Donald Boisvert, CEO of La Corbeille welcomes this initiative from the Marché Central and stated: "Hunger knows no season. Whether it's Christmas or back-to-school, people are hungry 12 months a year. It is important to ensure social fairness. It is important to give a minimum dietary support to those in need in our society."

Spokesman and Executive of the Marché Central, Robert Gauthier is confident to raise a significant amount of food for the local community. Mr. Gauthier stated "the mission of the Marché Central is to be present in the community in which we operate and to make a difference one step at a time. We believe in socio-professional integration and that is why we support La Corbeille.
