Noise Solutions Contributes to Economic Boom in Mercer County
New 55,000 sq. ft. plant creates new jobs and brings business to local merchants
PITTSBURGH, PA, Nov. 25, 2013 /CNW/ - Noise Solutions Inc., the North American leader of engineered turnkey industrial noise control, announces the official opening of its full-service operations in Sharon, Pennsylvania. The 55,000 square foot U.S. manufacturing plant is Noise Solutions' second vertically integrated enterprise. The company's headquarters has been operating in Alberta, Canada, since 1997.
With the help of many prominent players, including the Shenango Valley Enterprise Zone Corporation, the City of Farrell, the City of Sharon, Penn-Northwest Development Corporation, Penn State University and other businesses, Noise Solutions has had a smooth transition and seamless integration into the former Winner International Warehouse at 420 Vine Avenue in Sharon, PA. Since Noise Solutions moved into the warehouse in August, it has been transformed into a fully integrated industrial manufacturing plant and office space. This has also expanded Noise Solutions' footprint to over 80,000 square feet in the United States and Canada.
Noise Solutions is reinvesting into Mercer County by bringing new business to local merchants and by creating new jobs - up to 200 new jobs over the next three years. Put into perspective, every one new job Noise Solutions generates equates to 1.6 indirect jobs to the community and the County of Mercer. That alone significantly impacts the Mercer County economy.
Randy Seitz, President and CEO of Penn-Northwest Development Corporation, noted the essence of community that was brought forth in executing this project. "There was a grand willingness to help out," said Seitz. "The City of Sharon conveyed Noise Solutions Alexander Drive, a short street running the length of their building. And Penn State Shenango Campus sold them two acres it owned near the warehouse…. We had 42 volunteers who participated in this recruitment process and there were times when some of these people were in my office working until midnight.''
Since acquiring the warehouse, Noise Solutions has hired 30 employees in the roles of sales and administration, engineering, design, manufacturing and installation, and expects to hire between 125 - 200 new employees in various roles over the next three years.
When starting a Greenfield project like Noise Solutions' manufacturing facility, finding the right people to contribute to its success is essential. Taymour Ebrahim, Vice President of Operations at Noise Solutions, has been closely involved with the opening of the facility and the hiring of plant workers. "Good people are so important to any successful operation, and at times, this experience has been humbling," says Ebrahim. "There was a young man who applied for a trade position at the plant who had been out of work for some time. Like many of us, he had a family to support and the burden of being unemployed was weighing heavy on him. When I told him he was hired, he began to cry and shook my hand so hard with such sincere emotion and gratitude. It was truly humbling for me."
Noise Solutions' integration into Mercer County has also brought back workers who left the area to seek employment out of state, and returned to Mercer County with the hope of being part of something new and exciting.
