Nokia named one of Canada's Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations by
Jantzi-Sustainalytics and Maclean's Report
Report recognizes the top companies that are making Canada a better place to live and work
TORONTO, June 10 /CNW/ - Nokia is being recognized as one of the top 50 most socially responsible corporations in Canada by an annual report by Jantzi-Sustainalytics in partnership with Maclean's Magazine. Nokia is being recognized as a result of its large-scale efforts to empower positive environmental and social changes through its products, services and operations.

Some of Nokia's socially and environmentally responsible business initiatives include:
- The 'Progress Project,' which combines innovation and mobile technology in an effort to enrich lives, communities and the world at large. Nokia Life Tools, a range of agricultural and educational services, designed especially for people in small towns and rural areas in emerging economies, bridges the digital divide by empowering them with direct access to information via mobile phones. - While Nokia does not purchase raw materials directly, the company is recognized as taking clear responsibility as a leading manufacturer to promote environmental and social improvement to conditions in its supply chain and proactively promotes legal and ethical material sourcing as an absolute priority. - Membership in the Global e-Sustainability Initiative and participation in the Supply Chain Working Group.
The Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations in Canada were selected on the basis of their performance across a broad range of environmental, social, and governance indicators tracked by Jantzi Research.
