VANCOUVER, Jan. 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Nomad Ventures Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to provide the following corporate update on the Company's St. Vincent Bay Aggregate Property located at Jervis Inlet on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
In April, 2014, Nomad Ventures Inc. submitted an application for a Mines Act Approval to the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM). This application included a detailed Notice of Work and Reclamation Program (NOW), including a description of the proposed aggregate extraction work and plans for reclaiming the site.
The Ministry sent referrals to all affected municipal, first nation, federal, and provincial government departments for comments on Nomad's proposed operation. Nomad was required to provide public notification of the project in local newspapers and the BC Gazette.
Response to the referrals was favorable, with no significant objections to the proposed work. The local First Nation Band that was contacted by the MEM has established rules and procedures for the approval of any development activities within their territory. In response to the MEM referral, the Bands offices communicated their criteria for meaningful consultation and engagement with Nomad.
Nomad has met with and begun the process of engaging the local First Nations Band by following their protocols on land that is located within their territory. The Company entered into two Service Agreements (contracts) for Preliminary Field Reconnaissance (PFR) work at the St. Vincent Bay Property including an Environmental Assessment and an Archeological Study of the mine footprint and surrounding area. This work has been completed and copies of the reports have been forwarded to the MEM.
In October, 2014, Nomad purchased a 75 foot, 120 tonne barge loading ramp which is a vital component for loading aggregate onto barges up to 10,000 tonnes in capacity.
In December, 2014, Nomad began preliminary discussions to lease a property in Lower Mainland, BC to offload all aggregate products from St. Vincent Bay.
Mr. Brent Forgeron, President and CEO states "We are extremely pleased with the progress and milestones that were met in 2014 and look forward to completing the final stages of permitting and approval for production at St. Vincent Bay. Finally, I would like to thank our Shareholders and Investors for their continued support and look forward to a very prosperous 2015."
On behalf of the Board of Directors,
"Brent Forgeron"
President/CEO
