Nominations open for awards celebrating community leadership in Halifax

HALIFAX, Sept. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - FUSION Halifax is now accepting nominations for its 2013 GO Awards, a celebration of young professionals and community leadership driving positive change in Halifax. The awards will be presented to nine individuals and one company at a gala to be held at Pier 21 on November 2, 2013.

"The GO Awards are about taking a moment to recognize the incredible achievements of young professionals in Halifax," says Tyler MacLeod, chair of the FUSION Halifax GO Awards Committee. "Throughout the nomination period, we want our members and the public to reflect on the people in their lives who are helping the city realize its full potential."

Among the ten categories for nomination are the Humanitarian Award, Sustainability Award and Urban Design Award. This year also marks the introduction of the Company of the Year award, which recognizes a company making exceptional efforts to support the development of young professionals in Halifax.

"It is inspiring and exciting to see the young leadership on display here in Halifax," says FUSION Halifax Chair Sarah Levy MacLeod. "The GO Awards allow us to recognize those young people who will be taking the reins and shaping our city for years to come."
