OTTAWA and TORONTO, April 29, 2015 /CNW/ - The Information Technology Association of Canada is now accepting nominations for the Ingenious Awards, the premier Canadian ICT accolade recognizing the use of innovative technology to achieve business results. It is also seeking nominations for the 2015 CanadianCIO of the Year.
As Canadians we can be a modest bunch. We do great things that impact people in profound ways, but rather than seek applause, we too often turn away quietly and head back to the office to complete paperwork.
It may be the Canadian way, but in the ICT sector it may not be serving us particularity well. We employ more than a million people and our Research and Development initiatives are stronger than any other private sector entity. Yet our profile in the public is just short of invisible.
At the 2014 Ingenious Awards Warren Roy of Vancouver Global Relay won a standing ovation when he called on the industry leaders celebrate industry success. Success breeds success, he insisted. Share the good news about innovation and ingenuity can only be helpful.
It was a defining moment in the ceremony and it underscored one of the key reasons ITAC puts on the awards program in the first place: to celebrate the transformative power of ever-evolving ICT tools and to show how using them in strategic and innovative ways can strengthen the economy, improve productivity and enhance the lives of Canadians.
The 2014 award recipients were exceptional examples of how excellence in ICT can touch people's lives. They made flying easier, information storage safer, stock trading faster, ER visits more manageable and organ donation simpler. The winners measurably improved the way people work, access services, and communicate.
ITAC has opened nominations for the 2015 awards program and we are looking for your help to identify the next round of companies to receive Ingenious Awards. Whether it's the way your company's technology is changing business or the unique way a client is using ICT, consider making a nomination in one of the six categories.
ITAC's quest for excellence in the use of technology is also personal. For the second year now we are looking for extraordinary men and women who have transformed their organizations through superbly executed technology strategies. Do you work with a CIO who is making a difference and should be celebrated? If you answer yes, consider a nomination for the 2015 CanadianCIO of the Year. This award program delivered in partnership with CanadianCIO Magazine and the CIO Association of Canada recognizes achievement in two categories: private and public sector.
The awards would not be possible without the generous support of our Sustaining partner CGI, and Gold sponsors Dell Canada, HP, Intel, Softchoice and Xerox Canada. EY is a proud a supporting sponsor. The ITAC CanadianCIO of the Year Awards are made possible with the support of HP and Microsoft.
