Interested applicants encouraged to apply when jobs post May 15
TORONTO, May 8, 2017 /CNW/ -- Nordstrom, Inc., one of the United States' leading fashion-specialty retailers, announced it will hire 400 local employees for its new CF Sherway Gardens store in Toronto, which will open its doors on Friday, September 15. Sales and support positions will be posted on Monday, May 15 and interested applicants are invited to apply for jobs online at about.nordstrom.com/careers. The retailer also announced Jennifer Gross as Store Manager of its new CF Sherway Gardens store.
Sales positions at the CF Sherway Gardens store will be available in all areas including shoes, accessories, beauty and women's, men's, and children's apparel. Retail experience is not required for sales positions. Hiring will also take place for various support positions in alterations, building services, housekeeping, loss prevention as well as a restaurant and coffee bar. Nordstrom offers employees a competitive benefits package including a 20% retail discount (managers receive a 33% discount), dental, medical and vision options, and a RRSP matching program.
The majority of the 24 sales and support managers will be promoted from the current pool of Nordstrom Canada employees. For recent openings in Toronto, new manager training was provided with experienced managers at stores in Canada and the U.S. A similar training program will take place for management positions filled from outside of the company. Salespeople will also participate in a training program based in Toronto prior to the opening of the CF Sherway Gardens store. This training will focus on product knowledge, selling skills, and how to provide Nordstrom customers with a great shopping experience.
Gross began her Nordstrom career in 2006 as an intern in Hurst, Texas, where she was promoted three times before moving to the Dallas Galleria store as the Personal Stylist Manager. In May 2012, Gross took on the Store Manager role for Nordstrom Rack in Austin, Texas. She then relocated to Buford, Georgia as the Store Manager at the Mall of Georgia and most recently held the position of Store Manager at Palm Beach Gardens in Florida, until her recent move to Toronto.
"We've enjoyed getting to know customers at Toronto Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Shopping Centre and are excited to open at Sherway Gardens to more conveniently serve Torontonians in the West End," said Gross. While she anxiously awaits the opportunity to hire and train her new team, Gross emphasizes she is looking for people who "love fashion and taking care of customers."
The new CF Sherway Gardens store will mark the company's sixth Canadian store since the beginning of its expansion into Canada in 2014. The retailer also serves customers at CF Chinook Centre in Calgary, CF Rideau Centre in Ottawa, CF Pacific Place in Vancouver, CF Toronto Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto. The company plans to open six Nordstrom Rack stores in Canada in 2018, including Vaughan Mills and One Bloor in Toronto, Deerfoot Meadows in Calgary, South Edmonton Common in Edmonton, The Ottawa Train Yards in Ottawa, Heartfeld Town Centre in Mississauga.
