NOURISHING BIG DREAMS WITH A SMALL BOX OF COOKIES TO BENEFIT THE CLUB DES
PETITS DÉJEUNERS DU QUÉBEC
MONTREAL, Nov. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - This year, for its sixth annual fundraising campaign to benefit the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec, National Bank Financial Group has decided to treat the taste buds of food lovers throughout Quebec by offering a box of delicious cookies. As an added bonus, the box includes an exclusive recipe developed especially for the Club by renowned chef Anne Desjardins, with the endorsement of nutritionist Isabelle Huot. Available for $5 per box, from November 22 through December 31, 2010, these mouth-watering cookies come in a unique, attractive, reusable metal tin designed by Kettö. Meanwhile, the delectable delights inside were generously prepared, baked, packaged and distributed by the team at La Petite Bretonne. It's a surefire recipe for success!
"It was an ambitious undertaking," explains Daniel Germain, founder and president of the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec, "and we would never have succeeded without the willing participation and generosity of the following people: Anne Desjardins, executive chef and co-owner of L'Eau à la Bouche restaurant, hotel and spa in Sainte-Adèle; nutritionist Isabelle Huot; Julie Saint-Onge-Drouin and Catherine Fafard, the two founders of Kettö; and Dominique Bohec, vice-president of La Petite Bretonne. They offered us their talent and expertise to help create this unique, delicious, high-quality product, and I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to them."
The support of National Bank Financial Group and the donations received during the campaign will help the Club to meet its annual objectives. Its goal is to open 30 new clubs by the end of the school year, which will enable it to feed an additional 1,800 children.
"National Bank Financial Group continues to actively support the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec by conducting fundraising activities at our network of banks throughout the province of Quebec. For six years now, we have shown our commitment by selling promotional items selected by the Club at our branches," stated Campaign Chair Kathleen Zicat, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Service - Retail Banking, National Bank Financial Group. "The fact that we are able to help thousands of young children eat a proper breakfast each morning before school is a source of great pride for our 18,000 employees."
About the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec
When he founded the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec 15 years ago, Daniel Germain wanted to provide a hot, nutritious, delicious breakfast to children who were at risk of going to school hungry. He also wanted them to have a chance to start each school day like their fellow students: with a full stomach and a mind open to learning. Last year, thanks to the many donations received and the support of numerous partners, the Club's 3,500 volunteers welcomed 16,000 children and served some 2.3 million breakfasts in 273 schools across Quebec.
