SAINT-EUSTACHE, QC, Oct. 5, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Nova Bus was honored to have been invited to Ottawa to present its all-electric bus at an event held today in the nation's capital. The goal was to provide invited guests an opportunity to learn more about the technologies and features of this type of vehicle and see what the associated infrastructure, such as the pantograph, looks like. This initiative echoes OC Transpo's commitment to staying current on trends and technologies in the sector.
For the occasion, Nova Bus has loaned a prototype of its LFSe model and mobile fast charging stations were also sent to Ottawa. In order to enjoy the experience of the fully electric bus, dignitaries and attendees were able to participate in bus tours.
"We are very pleased that we were able to provide the City of Ottawa with our electric bus for this demonstration. It has already been circulating for over a year in Montreal, with great performance statistics. This event not only promotes sustainable mobility and transit electrification in general, but also allows us to share Nova Bus' experience and expertise in these areas," said Emmanuelle Toussaint, Vice President Legal and Public Affairs for Nova Bus.
Since the first Nova Bus electric buses were commissioned in Montreal in May 2017, they have traveled over 100,000 km and undergone more than 11,000 quick charges. This first year of service has also shown how robust the product is in extreme weather conditions, as well as the performance of the quick-charge stations. It should be noted that this bus model requires less maintenance, given its fewer mechanical components. The Montreal transit authority (Société de transport de Montréal) has renewed trust in Nova Bus by ordering 4 additional fully electric 40-foot LFSe, scheduled to be delivered end of 2019.
