WENDAKE, QC, Nov. 11, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - November 11th, Remembrance Day, allows us to remember the role played by First Nations in Canada's defence during world conflicts which marked the twentieth century.
"We must recall with respect the courageous men and women who have chosen to engage in these conflicts. One can only deplore that our First Nations veterans have not always been treated honourably. It must also be remembered and hoped that Canada resolves to right those wrongs in this new era of change", indicated Ghislain Picard, Chief of the AFNQL.
Their beliefs and their determination and the actions they took are worthy of our care and respect on this Remembrance Day. On behalf of the Chiefs Assembly, Chief Picard salutes all First Nations Veterans and assures them of its continuing support.
