HALIFAX, May 8, 2015 /CNW/ - The Nova Scotia Teachers Union is holding its 94thAnnual Council starting this evening through to Sunday, May 10 at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax.
Approximately 400 voting delegates, alternate delegates, visitors and guests will attend Council sessions, which start at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
Friday evening, The Honourable Karen Casey, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development will bring greetings and on Saturday, Heather Smith, Canadian Teachers' Federation President elect, and former president of the New Brunswick Teachers' Federation, will address delegates.
Saturday sessions are scheduled from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. to conclude by approximately 12:00 p.m.
Note to editors/reporters:
a) As is customary, Council sessions will be closed to non-NSTU members for the presentation of the NSTU financial package and discussion of costed and economic welfare resolutions. The adoption of the budget will take place during a closed session starting on Sunday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m.
