Nureva™ announces the dual Span™ ideation system
WM220i delivers 20' of seamless collaboration space
ORLANDO, FL, June 16, 2015 /CNW/ - Nureva Inc., an early-stage technology company, announces a two-projector option for its recently announced Nureva Span ideation system, giving teams double the horizontal working space. The single-projector Span WM210i ideation system that was announced last month combines a panoramic projector with a digital canvas to create an expansive team workspace measuring 10' wide (3.1 m) by 4' high (1.2 m), with 130" (3.3 m) on the diagonal. The new WM220i model includes two panoramic projectors installed side-by-side to create a 20' wide (6.1 m) seamless collaboration space that is 245" (6.2 m) on the diagonal. The images from the two projectors are melded into one image via the image-alignment module included in the system. The Span ideation system draws upon familiar, simple and flexible tools already widely used in paper-based ideation, including sticky notes, images, pages and flip charts.
The digital canvas retains all of the flexibility that paper-based systems offer (e.g., large workspaces with persistent information) while overcoming many of the challenges (e.g., the awkwardness of physically moving large numbers of sticky notes, sticky notes that fall off the wall, inclusion of remote participants in the process, the need for transcription, and storage and retention of the work). The Span ideation system allows multiple teams to use a collaboration room that previously may have been dedicated to a single team for months.
"Increasingly, innovation is at the top of the agenda for corporations globally, and every company is looking for an edge," said Nancy Knowlton, Nureva's CEO. "When it comes to fueling innovation, taking time to consider, and reconsider, the ideas represented by images, words, sketches and more is what informs, inspires and ultimately leads to something new, and the Span ideation system enables that process."
Additional product details
Shared canvas
The canvas offers 40' (12.2 m) of digital space (20' visible on the dual panoramic display) that can be panned horizontally. Users contribute content in the form of notes, pages, folios and images from their personal devices and organize content by moving and grouping.
Digital artifacts
Multiple types of digital artifacts can be created on a personal device or at the canvas:
- Note – This digital 3" x 5" (7.6 x 12.7 cm) sticky note allows users to enter up to four lines of text
- Page – This digital 8.5" x 11" (21.6 x 27.9 cm) page for sketching and wire-framing comes with three different ink colors and an eraser
- Folio – This large digital 32" x 42" (81.3 x 106.7 cm) flip chart for capturing notes, decisions and action items comes with three different ink colors, a highlighter and an eraser. One folio can contain multiple pages.
- Image – Users can post images to the canvas, then manipulate them
Personal app
The software is accessible on Chrome™ browsers and as apps on iOS and Android™ tablets to enable users to create digital artifacts and post them to the shared canvas.
Panoramic projectors
The system's two HD panoramic projectors create an ultrawide 245" (6.2 m) diagonal display in a 16:6 aspect ratio at 3000 lumens. A contrast ratio of 1800:1 (native)/10,000:1 (APM) provides consistent, high-performance color and a rich viewing experience. Solid-state illumination (SSI) means instant-on/off and delivers the same 25,000 hours of useful life as most flat-panel displays. Touch and pen interactivity are provided by a touch module at each projector, supporting simultaneous multiuser and multitouch activities.
Image-alignment module
The image-alignment module melds the two images through an onscreen alignment process performed at the time of installation to create one seamless 20'-wide (6.1 m) image.
U.S. pricing and availability
The software has an annual subscription of US$239 for a single-user license. The hardware (including 2 panoramic projectors, 2 projector wall mounts, 4 pens, 2 touch modules, the image-alignment module and 2 remote controls) has an MSRP of US$21,999. The system is available through a network of dealers in the United States and will ship in the fall of 2015.
