TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - NWM Mining Corporation ("NWM") is pleased to announce receipt of several important permits by its subsidiary, Minera Columbia de Mexico SA de CV ("MCM"). MCM is titled owner of the Lluvia de Oro and La Jojoba gold mines located outside of Magdalena de Kino in Sonora State, Mexico.
MCM has been advised by the Secretaria de la Defensa Nacional ("SEDENA") that it has been granted an explosives permit that allows it to purchase, store and use the explosives required for mining activities at the Lluvia de Oro and La Jojoba deposits. MCM is now able to re-commence mining operations in the past-producing Creston pit at the Lluvia de Oro property. This licence is issued by SEDENA which also, on an ongoing basis, administers and enforces compliance with the terms of all such licenses.
MCM has been granted permission by Secretaria del Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, ("SEMARNAT"), the agency responsible for the environment, to extend its existing leach pad in areas labelled SW1 and SW2, increasing the area of the leach heap footprint by 32%. These pad extensions are required to accommodate new ore that will be produced once mining re-commences in the adjacent Creston pit. Pad expansion work is now in progress.
MCM has executed a conveyance agreement with Minera Lluvia de Oro SA de CV ("MLO"), a former operator of the Lluvia de Oro mine, under which it has acquired all MLO's water rights related to the Lluvia de Oro site. These water rights permit extraction of up to 342,000 cubic meters of water per year from a well located near the mine and plants. MCM has received a letter of approval from the Comision National del Agua ("CNA") for this acquisition and is thus able to use the water required for mining operations.
"These are positive developments as MCM has now received the permits necessary to begin mining operations at the Lluvia de Oro and La Jojoba gold mines," said Chris Berlet, President and CEO.
