Oakville Children's Choir goes global with Scotiabank Bright Future Community Voices project
OAKVILLE, ON, June 26, 2013 /CNW/ - The Oakville Children's Choir joined Scotiabank in downtown Oakville today for a presentation of the Scotiabank Bright Future Community Voices CD to choir members. The Oakville Children's Choir is featured on the CD among 12 other children's choirs from around the world who tell the story of Scotiabank's involvement and contributions to communities globally.
"The Oakville Children's Choir is deeply rooted in the Halton community and Scotiabank is thrilled to feature them in the Bright Future Community Voices project," said Patrick McNeely, Branch Manager of Scotiabank's downtown Oakville branch. "The youth, and their music, demonstrate a true energy, spirit and love of community. Scotiabankers all across Canada, and around the world, share this with them and it's why we felt they were a great fit to tell Scotiabank's story of its commitment to communities."
The Oakville Children's Choir has achieved tremendous success over the last 17 years and has focused on providing world class choral, musical and performance training to young people in Halton. It has become a comprehensive music education program for some 150 auditioned choristers who range from five to 18 years of age.
The Bright Future Community Voices project is a compilation of videos that feature the music of local talent from 12 countries across the globe and tell the story of Scotiabank's involvement and contributions in building successful communities. Choirs from Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guyana, Jamaica, México, Perú, Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago each received a $1,000 donation as a part of the initiative.
