Obsolete pesticide collection program comes to Newfoundland

ETOBICOKE, ON, Oct. 25 /CNW/ - Farmers and other users of commercial-class pesticides will be able to safely - and at no cost - dispose of obsolete and unwanted pesticides October 26 - 28 at the following three locations:

    
    -   Oct 26 - Whitbourne - Highway Depot (Route 80/Trans Canada
        intersection)
    -   Oct 27 - Grand Falls/Windsor - Transportation Regional Office
        (4 Duggan Street)
    -   Oct 28 - Deer Lake - Highway Depot (74 Old Bonne Bay Road)

The obsolete pesticide collection program is a national, industry-initiated program that, since 1998, has assumed responsibility for more than 1.4 million kilograms of obsolete, commercial-grade pesticides. This is the second time the program has been held in Newfoundland. The first collection happened in 2002 and saw more than 1,600 kilograms collected.

Co-sponsors of this year's Newfoundland collection are Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Environment and Conservation.
