MONTREAL, March 28, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - This morning, the Office de consultation publique de Montréal presented to its various partners the consultation schedule for the analysis of the state of urban agriculture. Some 30 group representatives attended the event, many of whom had participated in the citizen initiative leading to the collection of 29,000 signatures requesting this public consultation. It is important to note that this is the first time that the Right of Initiative provided for under the Montréal Charter of Rights and Responsibilities is used by citizens.
At the event, Office President Louise Roy made public the calendar of scheduled meetings and events, which include an Expo on urban agriculture on May 12, a colloquy on May 17, and consultations in various areas of Montréal during the month of June.
The presentation also provided an opportunity to launch the Montréal urban agriculture calendar, created by Le Mur Mitoyen. This public calendar lists the numerous activities to be held in Montréal over the coming months on that issue. There are about fifty already listed. The calendar is available as of today on murmitoyen.com/agricultureurbaine.
