OEB announces 2010 electricity distribution rates for Dutton Hydro service
area
TORONTO, Oct. 25 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board) announced 2010 electricity distribution rates for Middlesex Power Distribution Corporation's (Middlesex) Dutton Hydro Service area (Dutton).
The impact on the delivery line of consumer bills will result in an increase of about 16.6% or $5.25 for Dutton residential customers using 800 kWh per month. The delivery line makes up approximately one-third of the total bill. The new distribution rates take effect November 1, 2010.
In 2009 Dutton was acquired by Middlesex Hydro. At that time, Dutton hadn't had its rates adjusted since 2001. In February 2010 the Board issued a decision pertaining to Dutton's 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 rates. In order to minimize the impact on consumers, the Board approved a rate mitigation plan. As a result of the rate mitigation plan, some of the costs incurred between 2006 and 2009 are included in the rates announced to day.
