OEB announces 2010 electricity distribution rates for Oakville Hydro

TORONTO, April 30 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board) announced electricity distribution rates for Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc. (Oakville Hydro). The new rates are effective May 1, 2010.
The delivery line of electricity bills will decrease by approximately 3.8% or $1.36 for Oakville Hydro's residential customers using 800 kWh per month. The delivery line represents about one-third of the total bill.
Oakville Hydro requested $33,949,170 to cover its costs for the 2010 rate year. As a result of the Board's alternate dispute resolution process, Oakville Hydro reached a settlement with intervenors in the application which the Board approved. Oakville Hydro's approved settlement agreement will recover a revenue requirement of $31,136,649.
The settlement agreement: - Reduced Oakville Hydro's 2010 operations, maintenance and administration costs by $1,485,458, from $13,114,261 to $11,628,803; - Reduced Oakville Hydro's capital expenditures by $498,046; - Updated the cost of capital to incorporate the Board's recent cost of capital parameters; - Will return $7,386,841 to Oakville Hydro's ratepayers, over a period ending April 30, 2013, to clear certain deferral and variance account balances.
