OEB announces 2010 electricity distribution rates for Orillia Power
Distribution Corporation

TORONTO, April 8 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board) announced electricity distribution rates for Orillia Power Distribution Corporation (Orillia Power). The new rates are effective May 1, 2010.

The delivery line of electricity bills will increase by approximately 5.7% or $1.76 for Orillia Power's residential customers using 800 kWh per month. The delivery line represents about one-third of the total bill.

Orillia Power requested $7,658,200 to cover its costs for the 2010 rate year. As a result of the Board's alternate dispute resolution process, Orillia Power reached a settlement with intervenors in the application which the Board approved. Orillia Power's approved settlement agreement will recover a revenue requirement of $7,656,200.

In the settlement agreement, Orillia Power:

    
    -   retained its proposed capital expenditures of $1,714,000;
    -   retained its proposed operations, maintenance and administration
        costs of $4,346,000;
    -   updated its cost of capital to incorporate the Board's recent cost of
        capital parameters;
    -   will return $458,000 to its ratepayers, over a period ending April
        30, 2011, to clear certain deferral and variance account balances.
