OEB approves rate changes for Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc.
TORONTO, June 28 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board approved changes to the natural gas commodity prices Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. (Enbridge) charges its customers effective July 1, 2010.
Residential consumers who purchase natural gas directly from Enbridge and use 3,064 cubic meters (m(3)) a year will pay approximately $148 less per year. The change reflects a decrease in what Enbridge forecasts it will have to pay for the natural gas it supplies its customers over the next 12 months and an increase to the gas cost adjustment refund for the period of July 1 to September 30, 2010.
-------------------------------------------------------------- Natural Gas Price Cost Adjustment Effective Price cents/m(3) cents/m(3) cents/m(3) -------------------------------------------------------------- 17.2987 -1.0873 16.2114 --------------------------------------------------------------
Consumers will pay 17.2987 cents/m3 for the natural gas they use between July 1st and September 30th. When combined with the gas cost adjustment, consumers will pay an effective rate of 16.2114 cents/m(3).
Starting July 1, the new Harmonized Sales Tax will replace the Goods and Services Tax on energy bills as well. For more information go to www.ontario.ca/taxchange.
Every three months, the Board reviews the natural gas commodity prices Enbridge charges its customers and adjusts them if necessary.
