CORNWALL, ON, Dec. 22, 2014 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, sixteen (16) Police Officers and volunteers joined in to participate in some Christmas caroling. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers partnered with Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service, St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department, OPP Coppertone representatives, and a few civilian volunteers paid visit to two retirement homes in the area.
Residents and staff from the Iakhihsohtha residence in TsiSnaihne, Quebec and Tsiionkwanonhso:te residence on Cornwall Island were excited to see officers from the different police forces join together and sing Christmas carols to them. The RCMP mascot "Mountie the Safety Bear" lit up these events by dancing around to some songs. Residents of the two retirement homes were eager to listen and many sang along. Retired OPP officer Dan Bissonnette's jokes were well appreciated. At the end of the caroling, gifts were handed out to each of the residents to help bring some Christmas spirit.
"We hope this has brought some holiday cheer to the seniors we had the chance to visit" said Inspector Kimpan, Officer-in-Charge of the CRTF, "I join my partners in wishing everyone all the best this holiday season, may you remain safe and healthy".
The Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) is a joint forces partnership that includes the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada Border Services Agency, Ontario Provincial Police, the Ontario Ministry of Finance and the Akwasasne Mohawk Police Service.
