MONTRÉAL, June 2, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - La Balade pour la Paix, a signature event in Montréal's 375th anniversary programming, will launch on Sherbrooke Street on June 5. A true open-air museum displaying 72 pieces of art and history, also commemorating 50 years since expo67, represents universal values of humanism, tolerance and openness. Montreal's 375th anniversary also offers a unique opportunity to gather Montréal families: what better way to get together than around great food? Montréal's food trucks are back for the summer; this year's flagship street food event at the Olympic Park is the largest gathering of its kind in Canada. Starting June 2, First Fridays, on the 375th Terrasse will be the can't-miss summer rendezvous for Montréal's gourmands, and foodies. Finally, the Indigenous Contemporary Scene and the Grand Ceremony of Sagabone will celebrate the art, culture and history of Aboriginal peoples. A unique auditory and visual experience hosted by Kent Nagano, the OSM and Moment Factory. Maestro Kent Nagano and the OSM invite you to an out-of-the-ordinary symphonic experience, the fruit of a collaboration between the internationally heralded young Canadian composer, Samy Moussa, and the equally world-renowned multimedia entertainment studio Moment Factory, to create a unique new work celebrating Montreal's 375th anniversary. The program will be completed by the stirring "New World" Symphony composed by Anton Dvorak, a work full of promise that bridges the past and the future.

Since 2010, the Soirées ART-CULTURE Autochtones – indigenous art and culture nights – have provided a meeting place for indigenous s and non-indigenous Quebecers. Organized by UQAM's First Nations Circle (CPNUQAM), the evenings have a fun, relaxed atmosphere, far removed from formal political discourse, focusing instead on community and art. The evenings are intended to inspire reflection, sharing and mutual respect, and have become essential monthly gatherings. To mark Montreal's 375th anniversary, the CPNUQAM is hosting a special edition, with Montreal-based indigenous artists hosting non-indigenous artists.

First Fridays - Terrasse du 375e
First Fridays, the star event of Montreal's street food scene, is back at the Esplanade Financière Sun Life at the Olympic Park for a sixth consecutive year. Sherbrooke Street turns into an open-air museum, inviting everyone to join in a walk for peace through 72 works of art reflecting the spirit of Expo67.
Created by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, this major international art exhibition will showcase 72 works carrying a message of peace and reflecting the universal values of humanism, tolerance and openness that inspired the creation of Expo67. In addition to commemorating the 50th anniversary of Expo67 as well as Montréal's 375th, this open-air exhibit will, in addition, mark Canada's 150th.

The Grand Ceremony of Sagabone
Montréal has every reason to be proud of playing a pivotal role in the oldest peace treaty signed with the First Nations of North America in 1701. The Immigrant Committee, in collaboration with Ève-Marie Langevin, artist-performer and "the people's knitter", will create cultural exchange workshops based around a collective knitting project. Throughout the project, the themes of living together and the creation of stronger, in will be discussed. The sections of the collective knitting project will be assembled in Saint-Laurent's public square (to be inaugurated in June 2017) and will thus serve as an element of public decoration. Espace Vu
Espace Vu is an intimate, cinematic structure that offers projections as well as diverse activities. Montréal, toute une histoire
An engaging and historical tour that takes participants on a journey along the St. Lawrence River between the Maison Saint-Gabriel and the Lachine Museum with the help of a free mobile app, a game, and a series of outdoor panels. Close to 50 places of interest have already been identified on the route, totalling 17 km in length. This route will be divided into different sections for those wishing to explore the course on foot and or by bike but don't necessarily want to travel the whole length of the trail. Two approaches will be proposed for the path: one that is more informative, cultural and historical with audio clips and photos accessible to all, and the second – ideal for families – involves a playful quest.

Streets of Montreal
The Streets of Montreal project aims to tell the story of eight historic locations in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie and five in the Plateau-Mont-Royal. There will be an outdoor exhibit which will run from May through to October, and a free online publication available throughout 2017. Montréal AVUDO
Montréal AVUDO – a spectacular show that pays tribute to the St. Lawrence River – will come to life with enormous projections inspired the city's history. Get ready to travel back in time! The ScaveNDGers project is divided into three separate events. "Marathon" participants will take part in a week-long mission to accomplish creative and engaging community-oriented tasks. "Sprint" participants will take part in a one-day race to complete smaller tasks throughout the NDG area. The entire community will then have the opportunity to interact with a temporary exhibit at the NDG Cultural Centre that will showcase the completed tasks in the form of photographs, videos, and artwork.
