VANCOUVER, March 24 /CNW/ - The influence of BC Clean Technology continues to span the globe with the announcement that Offsetters has entered into a project partnership with IMW Industries Ltd and Landfill Gas Canada Ltd (LFGC). This partnership will produce high quality carbon credits for the 2010 Legacy Portfolio to offset emissions from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Offsetters and LFGC are conducting due diligence on several clean energy projects using IMW's compressed natural gas systems in Latin America and Indonesia. Compressed natural gas is an environmentally friendly substitute for conventional fossil fuels. IMW's technology helps fleet managers and transit systems across the world transition away from more polluting fuels like diesel and gasoline.
"Landfill Gas Canada is a global leader in its ability to harness technology, technical resources and investment to address the climate impact of industrial facilities and processes," said Donovan Woollard, Chief Operating Officer at Offsetters. "Together, Offsetters, LFGC and IMW are demonstrating that Canadian companies have a tremendous amount to offer the world in the area of climate responsibility."
The Vancouver Organizing Committee of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), together with Offsetters, is working to offset the estimated 118,000 tonnes of direct carbon emissions from the Games. This is the first time that a Games Organizing Committee will be carbon neutral for the entire organizing period, dating back from the bid process through to the end of the Games. The direct footprint of the 2010 Winter Games will be offset by BC Clean Tech projects from the 2010 Legacy Portfolio developed by partners such as IMW and LFGC.
