OGRA is Pleased to Announce Alan Korell as the 2012-2013 President
OAKVILLE, ON, March 9, 2012 /CNW/ - Alan Korell officially became President of the Ontario Good Roads Association during the inaugural Board of Directors meeting held Wednesday, February 29 2012.
As the Managing Director of Engineering, Environmental Services & Works, for the City of North Bay, Alan brings years of experience and knowledge to the Board and the Association as President.
Alan was elected to the Board in 2008 to serve as Director and represent the Northern Zone. He has extended his knowledge to OGRA in many areas but in particular has been closely involved with the Minimum Maintenance Standards. Alan served as Chair of the MMS Task Force and continues to offer support and advice to staff and members in this area. Alan's professional affiliations include the Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Ontario's Professional Planners Institute. He volunteers on various boards and notably is a Past President of the Municipal Engineers Association.
By invitation from the Standards Council of Canada, Alan and Joe Tiernay, OGRA Executive Director, will represent OGRA in Mongolia mid-March. The Association was specifically invited to assist in strengthening Mongolia's regulatory regime for roads and highway infrastructure; an area of expertise for the new President. This is the first of many milestones for Alan as OGRA President.
The Board of Directors responsibility is to set policy and provide direction to OGRA.
The mandate of the Ontario Good Roads Association is to represent the infrastructure interests of municipalities through advocacy, consultation, training and the delivery of identified services. For more information, please visit ogra.org.
