OHA Media Statement on Findings of Canadian Armed Forces Report
TORONTO, May 26, 2020 /CNW/ - "The findings of the Canadian Armed Forces about the experiences of their members in five Ontario long-term care facilities are horrific. The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and Ontario's hospitals are strongly committed to supporting long-term care facilities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents during this public emergency.
The COVID-19 pandemic has tragically revealed significant vulnerabilities in seniors' care. The details shared today are extremely troubling and demonstrate that the province's independent commission into long-term care, announced earlier this month, cannot wait. This review should happen immediately and while it must focus on long-term care, it should be broadened to prevent a siloed approach to the complex quality of care issues facing frail seniors. With the pandemic far from over and a second wave inevitable, remedial measures are needed now to prevent further tragedies from unfolding in the future."

Ontario Hospital Association
The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) is the voice of the province's public hospitals. The OHA serves hospitals through advocacy, learning and engagement, labour relations and data and analytics to build a better health system. We do this by conducting evidence-based research, proposing ideas, convening members and partners, and encouraging responsible dialogue about change.
