OLG Casino Thunder Bay Hosting Electronic Waste Drop-off Site for Earth Week
THUNDER BAY, ON, April 21 /CNW/ - Can't get rid of that old cell phone, or that outdated computer collecting dust in the basement? This Saturday, April 24th, OLG Casino Thunder Bay, winner of the 2009 Municipal Green Award, is celebrating Earth Week 2010 with a unique event.
OLG Casino Thunder Bay is partnering with Pack Pros Plus to offer local residents a free electronic waste drop-off center in the casino parking lot.
"We want to engage both our employees and our customers to be more environmentally conscious, which includes disposing of electronic waste properly," said Alan Forbes, leader of the OLG Casino Thunder Bay volunteer employee Green Team.
The first 250 people (age 19 and older) to drop off e-waste will receive a coupon for $10 of free slot play at OLG Casino Thunder Bay.
The drop-off will be operating on Saturday, April 24th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Cumberland Street parking lot of the casino.
Items that will be accepted include: - Amplifiers, speakers, audio and video players & recorders, tuners, receivers and turntables - Cameras, Cell phones, pagers and PDAs - Computers (desktop & laptop) and peripherals including monitors, printers and scanners - Copiers and fax machines - Telephones and answering machines - Televisions - Video projectors
Pack Pros Plus is the largest scrap tire collector in northwestern Ontario and the designated OES (Ontario Electronic Stewardship) e-waste collector for the area.
"We're very pleased to partner with Pack Pros Plus, who will coordinate the logistics of safely disposing electronic waste," said Forbes. "They allow us to give back to the community we live in."
OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, casinos, slots, and resort casinos have generated more than $28 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario.
