Olympia Trust Company to Expand into the Province of Quebec
CALGARY, Sept. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Olympia Financial Group Inc. (TSXV: OLY) is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary Olympia Trust Company ("Olympia") has been granted a license to operate as a non-deposit taking trust company in the Province of Quebec. The license was granted by the Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF") pursuant to An Act Respecting Trust Companies and Savings Companies (Quebec).
As Quebec is the second most populous province in Canada (having a population of approximately 8 million people), Olympia is eager to expand its registered plans division and foreign exchange division into this significant Canadian marketplace. Olympia anticipates opening an office in Montreal, Quebec prior to year end. Olympia will operate in the Province of Quebec under both its English name and its French name, being Société de Fiducie Olympia.
Olympia was also granted licenses to operate in Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador on May 31, 2012 and May 29, 2012, respectively. As such, Olympia is now permitted to operate as a non-deposit taking trust company in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. Olympia has filed applications for trust licenses in the Provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
