VANCOUVER, June 4, 2015 /CNW/ - Mountain Equipment Co-op is proud to announce Erin McLeod as the organization's newest MEC Ambassador. A Canadian women's national soccer player and Olympic medalist, Erin McLeod inspires Canadians with her healthy and active outdoor lifestyle. In preparation for the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015TM, Erin's training regimen includes the gym, hiking, and trail running. MEC is proud to support Erin in her indoor and outdoor training as she represents Canada.
"My life can be so hectic with the demands of being a professional soccer player and a member of the national team," says Erin McLeod. "A simple hike or trail run allows me to escape the craziness of life and get a moment of peace."
Being fit ‒ both mentally and physically ‒ is essential to Erin's success as a professional athlete. She attributes her ability to play soccer at the sport's highest levels in large part to the time she spends outdoors ‒ "being present in nature."
"I wanted to be a MEC Ambassador so I could share my experiences with others who share my passion for exploring mountains, coastlines, or anywhere two feet or two wheels can take you."
Erin McLeod has participated in three World Cups and two Olympic Games. Erin won the bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympic Games – making history with her team.
"Erin is a highly accomplished athlete and a true adventurer who is living life to the fullest and inspiring others – girls and young women especially – to do the same," says Stephen Matthews, an MEC mountain biking Ambassador and coordinator of the MEC Ambassador Program.
