/CNW Telbec/ - RBC Royal Bank will welcome the Olympic Flame when it stops in Old
Montreal
on
December 10
, by paying tribute to Olympic Torchbearers during a ceremony that will take place at its branch located at 360 Saint-Jacques Street.
The torchbearers will include
Dr. Yves Lamontagne
, President of the
Quebec
College of Physicians, who will carry the Olympic Flame at its arrival at the branch around
6:38 p.m.
A few minutes later, Richard Légaré, RBC Vice-President, will carry the torch to Old Montreal's Place Jacques-Cartier, where a celebration will be held.
"As a co-sponsor of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, RBC selected 4,000 people to carry the Olympic Flame across
Quebec
and the rest of
Canada
following a contest held earlier this year," explained

, RBC Royal Bank. "The lucky winners were selected on the strength of their community involvement, such as their work in protecting the environment or with a charitable organization."
Approximately 12,000 Canadians will carry the flame across the country with millions more cheering and supporting them. The 2010 Olympic Torch Relay began its journey in British Columbia, after a traditional lighting ceremony in
Greece
on
October 30, 2009
. The Olympic Flame will travel from coast to coast through every province and territory in
Canada
- spanning 45,000 kilometres and over 1,000 communities over the course of 106 days. It will end at B.C. Place on
February 12, 2010
, with the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron, signalling the start of the
Vancouver
2010 Olympic Winter Games.
