On The Coast host joins #CAJ14 as gala MC
OTTAWA, April 23, 2014 /CNW/ - The CAJ is pleased to announce that Stephen Quinn will help us celebrate the recipients of the 2013 CAJ Awards.
The awards gala is the final event of #CAJ14, which runs May 9-10 at the Holiday Inn and Suites Downtown Vancouver. Registration is open with conference rates starting at $239 plus tax and standalone gala tickets at $45.
The recipients in 14 categories will be announced by Quinn on May 10, including the recipient(s) of the Don McGillivray Award, celebrating the best investigative journalism from 2013. Finalists in these categories were announced earlier this month.
Quinn is the host of "On The Coast," CBC Radio One's afternoon drive show heard in Vancouver and B.C.'s lower mainland. He studied broadcast journalism at the B.C. Institute of Technology, joining the CBC in 2000. While a civic affairs reporter, he created the popular Quinn's Quiz and was himself the recipient of multiple Radio Television Digital News Association Canada awards.
"Stephen joins a long line of journalists who've helped bring that extra touch to our conference banquet and awards galas over the years," CAJ president Hugo Rodrigues said.
For those who cannot attend in person, a liveblog of the gala will be available on the CAJ website once the presentations begin, expected around 8 p.m. PT.
The CAJ is Canada's largest national professional organization for journalists from all media, representing over 600 members across the country. The CAJ's primary roles are to provide high-quality professional development for its members and public-interest advocacy.
