One last chance to tap into sweetness at the Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival now extended until April 13
TORONTO, March 27, 2014 /CNW/ - Toronto and Region Conservation today announced that the annual Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival has extended its celebration for an extra week. The festival runs until Sunday, April 13 at 5:00 pm.
"This has been a difficult winter," said Adrian O'Driscoll, Supervisor, Education, Toronto and Region Conservation. "At the beginning of the festival the sap has been slow to run because the daytime temperatures have been too cold. Daytime temperatures need to hit above 4 Celsius for the sap to run, while nighttime temperatures need to remain below freezing. Hopefully if Mother Nature co-operates, we'll start seeing the sap flow more steadily with milder temperatures just around the corner. We're running the festival for an extra week to give people the chance to get outside and enjoy the maple syrup season!"
The festival takes place at two locations just north of Toronto; at the Kortright Centre for Conservation in Vaughan and Bruce's Mill Conservation Area in Stouffville, just east of Markham. Both locations will be open daily during March Break with activities for families looking for fun outdoor activities including enjoying live entertainment, Maple Syrup Walks, samples, children's activities, horse drawn wagon rides, a visit to the Sugarbush Shop and of course enjoy delicious pancakes with pure maple syrup! Throughout the day both locations will have family-friendly activities and entertainers.
