One Million to Help! The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation to provide $1 million to support people affected by breast cancer Français
MONTREAL, Jan. 20, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to launch a large provincial contest aimed at distributing $1 million dollars for projects that support pepole affected by breast cancer. The One Million to Help competition will enable organizations across the province to carry out innovative projects that will make a real difference both for the women affected and survivors as well as their loved ones and healthcare professionals.
The contest is open to hospitals and community organizations in all regions of Quebec. There will be at least one recipient in each of the two categories. The chosen organizations will have a maxium of three years to complete their project.
"The Foundation is very enthusiastic about launching this contest, since it will allow us to recognize the excellent work being done by organizations that work on a daily basis to improve the lives of those affected by breast cancer by providing them with an opportunity to introduce innovations or improve the services they offer," said Danièle Drolet, the Foundation's vice-president, programs and investments in breast cancer.
The Foundation will carefully evaluate all the projects, supported by a committee consisting of independent experts. It will determine which ones stand out for responding to priorities in the target community, in addition to being innovative and benefiting a signficiant number of people.
Quebec community organizations and hospitals interested in submitting their project have until February 28 to provide a summary of their project to the Foundation. Once their project's eligibility has been determined, they will be asked to submit a complete grant application, by no later than May 9. The projects chosen will be announced in August 2014.
