OTTAWA, April 22, 2014 /CNW/ - Hydro Ottawa, recognized today for the fourth consecutive year as one of Canada's Greenest Employers, is spending Earth Day giving back to the community.
Distinguished with the national award for its dedication to green energy solutions and environmental stewardship, Hydro Ottawa is expanding its commitment to conservation within Ottawa-area schools.
In its first-ever Bright Ideas contest that promotes electricity safety and conservation to students, the company is awarding $1,000 to two local schools to put towards classroom resources. Knoxdale Public School and Katimavik Elementary School received the grand prize, with six other classes getting runner-up prizes for showing their commitment to the community and environment.
Today's Greenest Employers announcement again recognizes Hydro Ottawa's significant best practices in environmental sustainability, which are showcased in its 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility Report.
