Only a week left to enter the CAJ Awards!
OTTAWA, Feb. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Association of Journalists reminds journalists that only a week remains to submit entries for the 2011 CAJ Awards program, featuring Canada's top investigative journalism award, the Don McGillivray Award.
The deadline for entries is Feb. 8.
Full information on how to enter the CAJ Awards, including entry forms to submit entries by mail is now posted on the Awards section of our website. The deadline for the Student Award of Excellence remains unchanged at Feb. 28, 2012.
New for this year, the program includes two new awards through partnerships with leading Canadian media organizations. The CAJ is partnering with jhr to offer the jhr / CAJ Award for Human Rights Reporting and is also partnering with CWA Canada and its largest local the Canadian Media Guild to offer the CWA Canada / CAJ Award for Labour Reporting.
"The CAJ awards program allows us to celebrate the best in Canadian journalism across all media," CAJ president Hugo Rodrigues said. "Our new awards broaden that reach, adding human rights and labour reporting to the cadre of work we will gather to celebrate as part of our annual conference."
The CAJ Awards finalists will be announced in late March or early April, with the winners announced at the CAJ conference banquet and awards gala. Registration for the annual conference is open as are ticket sales for the gala.
The CAJ is Canada's largest national professional organization for journalists from all media, representing almost 600 members across the country. The CAJ's primary roles are to provide public-interest advocacy and high-quality professional development for its members.
