OTTAWA, Jan. 6, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Association of Journalists reminds journalists that only a week remains to submit entries for the 2016 CAJ Awards program, featuring Canada's top investigative journalism award, the Don McGillivray Award.
The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. ET on Jan. 13.
Full information on how to enter the CAJ Awards is now posted on the Awards section of our website. You can also go straight to the submission site. The deadline for the Student Award of Excellence is Feb. 24, 2016.
"The CAJ's message for the new year calls on journalists to fight for and celebrate journalism in 2017," CAJ president Nick Taylor-Vaisey said. "Recognizing the amazing work done by journalists in 2016 will be one of the key moments on our annual calendar and shows us that despite the continuing challenges we face, great journalism was produced in Canada in 2016."
It's important to recognize that work and the impacts it's had on Canadians – but we can't do that unless journalists submit their best work for consideration. Need some extra time to assemble and submit your entry? Contact us and we'll work something out.
The CAJ Awards finalists will be announced in late-March or early April, with the winners announced at the CAJ conference banquet and awards gala, part of the 2017 CAJ Conference in Ottawa from April 28-29.
The CAJ is Canada's largest national professional organization for journalists from all media, representing members across the country. The CAJ's primary roles are to provide public-interest advocacy and high-quality professional development for its members.
