OTTAWA, May 22, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) is calling for nominations from the public for the 11th annual Faces of Mental Illness campaign. CAMIMH is proud to organize this important campaign, which features the faces and stories of Canadians living in recovery from mental illness.
"The individuals chosen as Faces of Mental Illness are truly remarkable individuals," said Dr. Karen Cohen, CAMIMH Campaign Chair 2013. "They share their challenges and triumphs, showing us all that recovery from mental illness is possible."
The Faces of Mental Illness campaign is a key component of Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) running from October 6th-12th, 2013. The campaign selects five individuals and enables them to tell their mental health stories through promotional materials, in profile videos and through media engagement. The campaign is made possible by the generous support and commitment of Bell, CAMIMH's Presenting Sponsor, as part of its Bell Let's Talk mental health initiative. CAMIMH is also grateful to Lundbeck Canada Inc., Premier Sponsor; their generosity is also much appreciated.
"We hope that friends, family members, neighbours and colleagues will talk about mental health within their networks. By engaging people in the Faces of Mental Illness campaign who have lived experiences of mental illness, CAMIMH helps to reduce stigma and focus public attention on Canada's mental health needs. We hope that Canadians from across the country will make nominations to the campaign so we can showcase the diversity of challenges and celebrations experienced by Canadians in recovery from mental illness," concluded Cohen.

CAMIMH would once again like to thank its generous sponsors who make this campaign possible: Bell, Lundbeck Canada Inc., Impact Public Affairs, Janssen and Rx&D.
Established in 1998, the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) is an alliance of national mental health organizations comprised of health care providers and organizations representing persons with mental illness and their families and caregivers.
