Ontario Broadcasters Group Announce Further Details Regarding Televised Provincial Leaders Debate
Debate to take place Sunday, May 27th at the CBC Broadcast Centre
TORONTO, May 15, 2018 /CNW/ - A group of leading Ontario media outlets have joined together to broadcast a televised Ontario Leaders Debate in the lead up to the 2018 Ontario general election.
The broadcast partnership consists of CBC, CHCH, CPAC, CTV News, Global News, and TVO.
As previously announced, the televised live Ontario Leaders Debate is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 27th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.* at the CBC Broadcast Centre in downtown Toronto.
The debate will be moderated by Ontario journalists Steve Paikin (TVO) and Farah Nasser (Global News).
A live studio audience will be invited to attend the debate, with tickets for the event being distributed, in equal share by the three participating parties, and the members of the broadcast partnership.
Questions posed during the debate will come from the two moderators (curated by a wider group of journalists working for members of the broadcast partnership), as well as from a mix of Ontario voters asking questions live in-studio and via video. There will also be an opportunity for candidates to ask questions of each other.
The debate is open to all major party leaders running candidates in all Ontario ridings that currently have an elected MPP sitting in the provincial legislature. As such invitations have been sent to the leader of the Liberal Party of Ontario, the leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative party, and the leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party.
* The debate will air from 8:00pm-9:30pm on CHCH.
