Ontario Child and Youth Workers Receive Krista Sepp Memorial Awards
MARKHAM, ON, April 22, 2015 /CNW/ - Ontario's finest Child and Youth Workers/Counsellors will be honoured at the 24th annual Krista Sepp Memorial Awards Celebration Luncheon on Thursday, April 23rd at the Richmond Hill Country Club.
A total of 29 child and youth workers/counsellors (CYW/CYC) were nominated by their peers from across Ontario for the Krista Sepp Memorial Awards this year.
The Krista Sepp Memorial Awards were established by Kinark Child and Family Services in 1991 to honour the memory of Krista Sepp, who lost her life on February 3, 1989, while performing her duties as a child and youth counsellor. Each year, the Krista Sepp Memorial Awards are held to recognize the high quality work and dedication of CYW/CYCs from across Ontario.
Jessica Hayden, Policy Advisor, will be offering opening remarks on behalf of Ontario's Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
- This year's Horizon Award recipient is Ben Weinstock from Hincks-Dellcrest Centre.
The Horizon Award honours the ongoing excellent contributions of direct service staff with up to five years of experience in the CYW/CYC or relevant social services field. Ben is a member of Hincks-Dellcrest's school program as the Physical Activities Instructor and provides support for youth academically, emotionally and socially.
- This year's Mentoring Award recipient is Sue Knox from Hincks-Dellcrest Centre.
The Mentoring Award recognizes excellent work of direct service staff with more than five years of experience working in the CYW/CYC or relevant social services field.
Sue has been working in the field for 27 years, and is currently an Intensive Child and Family Services Worker at the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre. Sue provides intensive support to children and youth aged 6-18 and their families in their homes, schools and community settings.
