TORONTO, May 24, 2016 /CNW/ - Ontario's finest Child and Youth Workers/Counsellors will be honoured at the 25th annual Krista Sepp Memorial Awards Celebration Luncheon on Wednesday, May 25th, at St. James Cathedral – Snell Hall, in downtown Toronto.
A total of 24 child and youth workers/counsellors (CYW/CYC) were nominated by their peers from across Ontario for the Krista Sepp Memorial Awards this year.
The Krista Sepp Memorial Awards were established by Kinark Child and Family Services in 1991 to honour the memory of Krista Sepp, who lost her life on February 3, 1989, while performing her duties as a child and youth counsellor. Each year, the Krista Sepp Memorial Awards are held to recognize the high quality work and dedication of CYW/CYCs from across Ontario.
Omar Raza, Chief of Staff to Minister Tracy MacCharles, will be offering opening remarks on behalf of Ontario's Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
The Horizon Award honours the ongoing excellent contributions of direct service staff with up to five years of experience in the CYW/CYC or relevant social services field. Deena is a Therapeutic Arts Instructor at Hincks-Dellcrest Centre and provides support for youth academically, emotionally and socially as well as through community outreach.
The Mentoring Award recognizes excellent work of direct service staff with more than five years of experience working in the CYW/CYC or relevant social services field. Chantal is currently a Coordinator of Secure Treatment at the Roberts/Smart Centre. She has been leading the Secure Treatment Program for more than seven years and has provided consistent mentorship for a full-time team of 10 as well as part-time staff.
