TORONTO, Sept. 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Ontario's Minister of Education, Laurel Broten, and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, Madeleine Meilleur, joined members of the Greater Toronto Area's Francophone community yesterday for the launch of the all-new Mini TFO interactive Web platform for children.
This new edutainment offering from TFO invites pre-school children to explore a variety of educational concepts through original, entertaining games and videos, along with songs and nursery rhymes. Together with characters from their favourite TFO television series and Mini TFO hosts Louis and Josée, children will discover how situations from their day-to-day lives can be full of extraordinary emotions and challenges at tfo.org/mini
Speaking at the launch, Minister Broten said, "I want to thank TFO for promoting Ontario's rich Francophone culture through its lively, diverse programs and services. TFO plays a crucial role in our province's French-language schools and Francophone communities. TFO helps children to build their French reading and writing skills and perform well in school."
Development of the new Mini TFO platform has been made possible by funding from the Ontario Ministry of Education. Groupe Média TFO also gratefully acknowledges the ongoing support of the Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, Madeleine Meilleur in the deployment of all of TFO's activities.
In his remarks at the launch, Groupe Media TFO President and Chief Executive Officer said, «Today we are happy to be launching a whole new line of edutainment content for pre-schoolers. With its 60 new learning games and music videos, we want the Mini TFO digital platform to become the new indispensable Web destination for younger children."
Groupe Média TFO continues to innovate to provide families and schools with products and resources that contribute to the vitality of French-language minority communities.
As Minister Broten explained, Franco-Ontarians form an important part of the linguistic and cultural diversity that distinguishes our province, which makes the existence of an organization like TFO that much more essential."
As part of the launch, internationally renowned soprano Natalie Choquette joined Mini TFO hosts Louis and Josée to perform skits and songs specially selected for the occasion from Mini spectacle, the Mini TFO live travelling show, to children from GTA Francophone elementary schools who attended. Mini spectacle began touring Ontario in June and has been a tremendous hit with children from all over the province.
